Look for broad-spectrum protection
Broad-spectrum sunscreen is designed to protect against both UVA and UVB radiation. Check the label for the SPF value, broad-spectrum wording and any water-resistance duration rather than relying on the product name alone.
Understand mineral and chemical filters
Mineral sunscreens use filters such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Other sunscreens use organic filters. Neither category is automatically best for everyone: comfort, finish, tolerance and correct application all matter.
Match the texture to your routine
Fluid and gel textures can feel lighter, while creams may feel more moisturizing. Tinted mineral formulas can help reduce visible white cast for some skin tones. The sunscreen you enjoy applying generously and regularly is often the most practical choice.
Check the surrounding formula
If your skin is sensitive, review fragrance and other ingredients you know you react to. If you use makeup, consider how the sunscreen layers beneath it. A moisturizer with SPF can be convenient, but it still needs to be applied according to its sunscreen directions.
Use and reapply it correctly
Follow the amount and reapplication instructions on the label, especially after swimming, sweating or towel drying. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection alongside shade, clothing and avoiding excessive exposure.
